Annual Goals & Objectives

Each year, the Laboratory Schools focus on a limited number of initiatives to measurably improve our educational program and related services. These initiatives are a subset of and complement the more encompassing mission of the Schools including the:

  • Development and refinement of what is taught
  • Development of the skills of critical and expansive thinking
  • Preparation of students for the expectations of higher education
  • Hiring and support of an outstanding faculty
  • Maintenance of a learning environment to support the above

2013-2014: Goal I. To Improve the Educational Program


A.    To use the spring 2013 survey results to prepare action plans for each School by October 15, 2013.

B.    To create and administer an alumni survey by June 1, 2014.

C.    To continue the review, refinement, and implementation of school schedules and report on progress by May 1, 2014.

D.   To implement a new science instruction sequence at the Middle School effective at the beginning of the school year.


2013-2014: Goal 2. To Improve the Educational Program


A.    To monitor and adjust all operations at Earl Shapiro Hall and report on progress by November 1, 2013.

B.    To maintain favorable teaching/learning conditions during construction and renovations at the historic campus and report progress in annual status report.

C.    To complete all goals associated with the Lab+ Campaign by December 31, 2013.

D.   To identify by April 1, 2014, structures and protocols as well as division-level and institutional goals and strategies to improve communication between home and school, including the establishment of an Information Technology Advisory Committee by December 1, 2013.
